Open to all area players of orchestral instruments – music educators strongly encouraged! 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, so this summer we will focus on Russian works, particularly pieces influenced by folk and sacred music. Attention will be given to playing techniques and stylistic understanding, as well as the characteristics of folk and sacred music found in the repertoire that generate its Russian flavor. Composers will include Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakoff, Stravinsky, and Prokofieff. Attendance at all sessions is NOT required, but if you register please try to make as many sessions as possible, so we have adequate instrumentation. Instrumentation needs for each week will be included in the schedule and list of repertoire. Contact director: with any questions.

Concert: There will be no concert, allowing the orchestra to read more repertory.
