Eastman Summer Sings! 2018
Singers of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in “Eastman Summer Sings!,” the popular Eastman-Rochester Chorus series of choral music reading sessions. Now marking its 24th season under director William Weinert, professor of conducting and director of choral activities at the Eastman School of Music, the series begins Tuesday, July 3. All sessions will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall.
The series offers the Rochester community the opportunity to perform choral masterworks with Eastman faculty, Eastman students, and outstanding soloists from the area. Hundreds of Rochesterians have participated in these relaxed and engaging singing experiences through the years.
Scores are provided at the door. The sessions are free, with a $5 suggested donation. The 2018 schedule of works and conductors for this annual tradition features:
Tuesday, July 3: Mozart, Requiem; William Weinert, conductor
Thursday, July 12: Haydn, The Creation; guest conductors from the Eastman Choral Institute
Tuesday, July 17: Handel, Judas Maccabeus; William Weinert, conductor
Tuesday, July 24: Christmas in July! Bach, Christmas Oratorio; Rayvon Moore, conductor
