Team-Building Activities for Businesses and Nonprofit Organizations

Day/Time: Please contact summer@esm.rochester.edu to schedule your session
Room: A804

Instructor: Lindsay Baker, Eastman Opera Theatre

Over the last decade, more attention has been paid to arts-based training in the workplace (also referred to as “Applied Theatre in Corporate Training”). ATCT provides a method of experiential learning that is “effective, collective, and approachable.” Research shows that participants retain more from interactive training methods than lecture-based learning. According to Fan Sheng-Tao, “ATCT facilitates management-related knowledge, including leadership, communication, creativity, team building, and emotion management.”* With this in mind, the Eastman School of Music offers “Creativity and Collaboration: Theatre Training for the Workplace,” a team-building workshop that provides participants opportunities new ways to engage with themselves and their colleagues in order to encourage healthy and productive approaches to spontaneous, imaginative, creative-thinking, as well as open and trusting communication. The full day workshop can be divided into two half-day workshops (Creativity & Collaboration) to suit your business or organization’s needs and budget.
