This course explores key components of healthy musicianship for performance enhancement as well as prevention of performance-related musculoskeletal disorders. This summer workshop is based on the “Keys to Healthy Music” course which has been offered at the Eastman School for 18 years. Concepts can be applied to personal well-being as well as the music education setting. Participants will be introduced to:

  • Lifestyle design for musicians
  • Effective warm-up and cool-down
  • Instrument-specific conditioning 
  • Posture screen and corrections
  • Functional movement screen and correction
  • Ergonomic assessment of practice and performance habits and environment
