Eastman Trumpet Online Workshop
August 1-6, 2021 / Sunday–Friday, times TBA

This program has been cancelled for Summer 2021.

Wesley Nance, director
Guest faculty: Allen Vizzutti, Yamaha Performing Artist

Guest presenters: Tim Saeger, performer and teacher, San Diego, CA; Herb Smith, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Eastman Community Music School

Addressing the various needs of today’s collegiate and high school players, the Eastman Trumpet Online Workshop is a fun-filled, highly motivating five-day online experience hosted by Wesley Nance (Second Trumpet, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; Trumpet Faculty, Eastman Community Music School) and an invited guest instructor (TBA). Students who register as performers will submit daily recordings for online masterclasses with real-time critique and discussion over Zoom with the group. The workshop will feature online topical sessions daily, such as warm-up, practice strategies, technique, interpretation, etc. Students will participate in online college or orchestral mock auditions, and get feedback from faculty. Students will explore ways to develop successful mental attitudes, styles and techniques for great recital performances, orchestral playing and audition success. Finally, we will have a topical seminar on successful recording technique and produce a virtual trumpet ensemble video together to be released on the final Friday. Dust your trumpet off, get back in shape, and join us as we explore the challenges and excitement of playing this fantastic instrument!

This workshop is also available to auditors who will have access to two special topic presentations per day.

Begins with an online Faculty Concert on Sunday, August 1 at 7 p.m. (EDT) from Kilbourn Hall
