The Eastman Summer Tuba & Euphonium Institute is a weeklong experience where you will hone your musicianship, strengthen career-building skills, and expand your network of colleagues and mentors. Every participant will have the opportunity to perform in a masterclass, play in small and large tuba/euphonium ensembles, and take a private lesson with one of the faculty members. We will also have daily warm-up classes, special workshops on health and wellness, and a session on how to create a life in music. The institute ends with a Participant Chamber Music Concert.

After a Sunday evening Faculty Concert and welcome session, each day will include a variety of classes and seminars, including:

  • Faculty-led group warm-up classes
  • Masterclasses
  • Chamber ensembles (small groups and large tuba/euphonium ensemble)
  • Individual practice time and private lessons with faculty
  • Special topics discussions and a mock audition

The Institute is designed for advanced high school, college, and graduate-level students. Adult lifelong learners are also welcome!

This institute is designed as a residential program; high school students age 15-17 may reserve on-campus housing and meals at the Eastman Student Living Center for an additional fee. Due to COVID-19 restrictions for Summer 2022, on-campus housing and meals at the Eastman Student Living Center will be available for high school students only. All collegiate and adult participants will be responsible for their own off-campus lodging and meals. For information about on-campus housing and a list of resources for those staying off-campus, click here.

Please send video or sound file links together in one Word document as shown in the example template below (do not forward individual links to the Summer@Eastman office), name and save the file, then attach the Word document to your Summer@Eastman registration using the built-in file uploader. Links should be “active” so that videos can be viewed directly from your document; you may wish to test this before sending your registration. Please send your recording(s) by April 25 May 15, 2022 (new deadline).
