Sylvie Beaudette

Director of Summer@Eastman and

Assistant Professor of Chamber Music and Accompanying

Born in Quebec, pianist Sylvie Beaudette has a diversified career as a collaborative artist, vocal and chamber music coach, teacher, and arts administrator. She has performed with several artists and groups in Canada, the United States, and Switzerland, and has recorded with Centaur Records, Oasis, and MMC Recordings. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Dr. Beaudette worked as a faculty member at Syracuse University, California State University at Chico, and the Universite de Sherbrooke in Quebec. She has given lectures in Switzerland and Finland and coached French at the Houston Grand Opera. She was awarded the 2007 citation from the New York State Music Teachers Association for her musical contributions as a whole. She is currently working at the Eastman School of Music as Director of Summer@Eastman and the Eastman To Go chamber music community engagement program. She also founded the Women in Music Festival (2005-2014) and served as co-chair of the Eastman Centennial Planning Committee from 2018 to 2023.

Summer@Eastman Program Coordinator

Andrea Schuler holds undergraduate and graduate viola performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music. She attended summer study programs at the Tanglewood Music Center, the National Repertory Orchestra, and the Sarasota and Waterloo Music Festivals. Andrea worked for more than twenty years as a freelance musician in Seattle and around the Pacific Northwest (performing with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, the Boise Philharmonic, and the Auburn Symphony) before returning to Rochester and Eastman in 2015. She sings alto in Eastman-Rochester Chorus, loves social dancing (especially salsa, Lindy hop, and East Coast swing), and will happily join a Shim Sham performance (swing or tap) anytime, anywhere.

Interns are an important part of the Summer@Eastman team. We offer two internships per year: Marketing Assistant in the Fall and Operations Assistant in the Summer.
