Guest presenter: Dr. Patricia Caicedo, Colombian-Spanish classical soprano and musicologist
La Canción Lírica: A Survey of Spanish Art Song Repertoire delves into the evolution of the Spanish Art Song genre from the 17th through the 21st centuries. The course is designed to explore the songs of established composers (such as Granados, de Falla, Turina, Ponce, Guastavino), as well as their lesser-known contemporaries, while also highlighting the important contributions of various female composers to the genre (Souviron, Zubeldia). Weekly lectures, as well as score study, reading, and listening assignments will help participants expand the scope of their knowledge of this repertoire for recital and/or pedagogical use. This course is geared toward singers, coaches, pianists, voice teachers and all enthusiasts of La Canción Lírica! Pairs well with Spanish Lyric Diction – ONLINE.
